Bono visits

A few things have managed to happen since my last post! Bono visited the Ireland office 10 days ago. He talked for a while on his charity projects on debt and AIDS and then got swamped by the hoards of adoring fans. I was lucky enough to see Mikhail Gorbachev visiting the Mountain View office recently, it's time we had some exciting visitors of our own.

Then we had our fancy dress Christmas party, lots of fun. Plus Jasmine had her birthday party yesterday - we managed to survive and she had a laugh with all her friends.

TGIF

Almost at the end of another week recovering from jetlag (poor little me), but my Ruby has come on a lot this week, what with reviewing a lot of it and getting to the stage that I'm recognising bugs. Still a long way to go though!

We had this week a Google tech talk come recruiting evening on Tuesday, very well attended by ~100 people. It was also held in London and Zurich with a talk from Urs Hoelzle, VP of Operations and early employee in Google. There's a detailed write up of the London talk in Zdnet. It was nice to meet some friends (drinks and snacks were on offer afterwards) plus a couple of people I previously only knew via email. I didn't meet anyone who wanted a job though! It's strange to once more be somewhere that is busy hiring and can't get enough people.

My new domain, frommars.org, is finally set up. Now all I have to do is learn some more PHP and completely rewrite bits of my old website, all in my copious free time. One thing at a time.
