Obsolescence wave passing through

We're recovering from the after effects of a Class II Obsolescence wave that is currently passing through our neighbourhood. In January it took out our TV - through the medium of lightning. In March it took out our kettle. Early this month it took out our washing machine. Luckily I believe it has entirely passed through the region of our house containing electronic devices and at its current rate of advance the wavefront should have passed our house altogether.

I'm sure there must be a formula for this kind of thing. Anyone?
